SEMH Teaching Assistant

About the Role:
We are seeking a compassionate and resilient SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) Teaching Assistant to join our team on a supply basis. In this vital role, you will support students with SEMH needs, helping them overcome challenges and thrive in a safe and supportive learning environment. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of students facing emotional and behavioural barriers to learning.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support students with SEMH needs on a one-to-one or small group basis, both in and outside the classroom.
- Assist in managing behaviour and providing emotional support to students throughout the school day.
- Help students engage with lessons, providing tailored support to meet their individual needs.
- Work closely with teachers, SENCO, and other professionals to monitor student progress and adapt support strategies.
- Encourage positive social interactions and promote emotional well-being.
- Ensure a safe, calm, and supportive environment for students to learn and grow.
Key Requirements:
- Experience working with students with SEMH or behavioural challenges is highly desirable.
- A patient, empathetic, and resilient approach to supporting students.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to build strong, trusting relationships with students.
- The ability to work collaboratively with a team of teachers and support staff.
- Relevant qualifications (e.g., Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant qualification, or equivalent) would be beneficial.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
