Job description

Are you passionate about making a positive impact on the lives of children with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) challenges? Are you committed to supporting their educational and emotional development? If so, Teaching Personnel has an exciting opportunity for you.

We are looking for a Full-Time Secondary Teaching Assistant, specializing in SEMH to join a lovely Secondary school in the Salford area. This role would be due to start ASAP and would continue until at least the end of the new term, potentially turning into a perm contract with the school.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide full-time support to children with social emotional mental health (SEMH) challenges within a secondary school setting
  • Assist with the implementation of behaviour management techniques and interventions to support students' emotional well-being
  • Foster a safe and inclusive learning environment that promotes positive engagement and encourages social interaction
  • Offer one-to-one support to students who require additional assistance with academic, social, or emotional skills
  • Encourage independence and personal development through differentiated activities and tailored interventions.


Requirements:

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with students, parents, and colleagues
  • Enhanced DBS on the update service
  • Patience, empathy, and the ability to build positive relationships with children from diverse backgrounds
  • Flexibility, adaptability, and a proactive approach to problem-solving
  • A genuine passion for supporting the educational and emotional growth of children with SEMH challenges
  • Previous experience working in a school setting supporting children with special needs (SEN) would be beneficial, but not necessary.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
