Situated in the heart of Salford, we cater to secondary-aged students who require additional support due to social, emotional, and mental health needs, ensuring they receive the tailored assistance and guidance necessary to thrive academically and emotionally.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide one-on-one support and mentoring to students, addressing their social, emotional, and mental health concerns in a compassionate and non-judgmental manner.
- Collaborate closely with teachers, SENCOs (Special Educational Needs Coordinators), and external agencies to develop and implement personalized support plans tailored to each student's specific needs and circumstances.
- Deliver structured interventions and therapeutic activities aimed at enhancing students' emotional regulation, self-esteem, and interpersonal skills.
- Monitor and evaluate students' progress, maintaining detailed records and reports to track outcomes and inform future support strategies.
- Act as a trusted advocate and ally for students, advocating for their needs and rights, and facilitating communicaton between home and school as required.
- Promote a positive and inclusive school culture through the delivery of assemblies, workshops, and awareness-raising initiatives focused on mental health and well-being.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Previous experience working with adolescents in a mental health, educational, or youth work setting, particularly those with SEMH needs, is highly desirable.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport and establish trusting relationships with students, families, and colleagues.
- Knowledge of adolescent development and understanding of the impact of social, emotional, and mental health difficulties on learning and behavior.
- Ability to remain calm under pressure, demonstrate resilience, and effectively manage challenging situations with sensitivity and professionalism.
- Relevant qualifications in mental health, counseling, psychology, or education are advantageous but not essential.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
