Graduate Teaching Assistant – Full-Time Role in Levenshulme

Teaching Personnel is seeking a Graduate Teaching Assistant to join an Ofsted-rated ‘Good’ secondary school in Levenshulme. This is a full-time position starting immediately, running until the end of the academic year, with the potential for a permanent role based on performance.

Role Overview

This role is ideal for a recent graduate looking to gain valuable experience in a school environment, particularly those considering a career in teaching, educational psychology, or youth work. The successful candidate will provide support to students and teachers across different subjects, helping to improve student engagement, confidence, and academic progress.

Key Responsibilities:

• Supporting students one-to-one and in small groups, particularly those who require additional academic guidance.
• Assisting teachers in the planning and delivery of lessons, ensuring students remain engaged and supported.
• Helping to prepare learning resources and materials suited to students’ individual needs.
• Supporting students with special educational needs (SEN), social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs, or those who require targeted intervention.
• Monitoring student progress, providing feedback to teachers, and helping to implement support strategies.
• Encouraging students to develop independent learning skills and a positive attitude toward education.
• Assisting in classroom behaviour management and promoting a structured and supportive learning environment.
• Working closely with teachers, the SENCO (Special Educational Needs Coordinator), and pastoral staff to ensure students receive tailored support.

Candidate Requirements:

• A degree in any subject (2:2 or above preferred).
• A strong interest in working with young people and supporting their academic development.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and motivate students.
• The ability to work collaboratively within a team and adapt to different learning needs.
• Previous experience working with children or young people (e.g., tutoring, mentoring, classroom support) is desirable but not essential.

• Weekly pay between £419.25 - £500, depending on experience and responsibilities.
