Job Description:
A dynamic and supportive secondary school in Manchester is seeking an experienced Behaviour Support Assistant to join their dedicated team. This full-time, long-term position is ideal for someone passionate about making a positive difference in the lives of students with behavioural challenges. The school is committed to fostering an inclusive environment, where students' individual needs are met, and each child is given the support they need to thrive academically and socially. The successful candidate will be a key member of the pastoral support team, providing one-on-one and group support to students in need.
Key Responsibilities:
- Behavioural Support: Provide targeted support for students with behavioural challenges, implementing personalised behaviour management plans.
- Classroom Support: Assist teachers in managing classroom behaviour, ensuring students are engaged and focused.
- Individualised Support: Work closely with students who may have social, emotional, and behavioural difficulties, offering tailored support strategies to help them stay on track with their learning.
- Collaboration: Work alongside teachers, SENCOs, and the wider pastoral team to share observations and collaborate on strategies to address student needs.
- Progress Monitoring: Track and report on students’ behaviour, providing feedback to the pastoral team, teachers, and parents as necessary.
- Promoting Positive Behaviour: Help students to develop positive behaviours and coping strategies to improve their emotional well-being and engagement in school activities.
- Pastoral Care: Build positive relationships with students, acting as a role model to promote good behaviour, respect, and emotional regulation.
Essential Qualifications & Skills:
- Previous experience working with students who display challenging behaviours, ideally in a school or youth work setting.
- Strong understanding of different behaviour management strategies and a patient, empathetic approach.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Ability to build strong relationships with students and staff, supporting individual needs.
- A proactive and solution-focused attitude with the ability to think on your feet.
- A Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (desirable, but not essential).
- Experience with students who have additional needs (e.g., ADHD, ASD) is beneficial but not essential.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
