  • Helping to develop lesson resources and marking basic student work under teacher supervision.

  • Supporting the classroom teacher in managing behaviour and maintaining a productive learning environment.

  • Working with low-attaining students or those with barriers to learning to help build confidence in English.

  • Supporting students with SEN or EAL (English as an Additional Language), tailoring resources and learning strategies to their needs.

  • Encouraging a love of literature and language across all year groups.

  • Assisting pupils with exam techniques and revision strategies, especially leading up to assessments.

Ideal Candidate Attributes

  • A degree in English, English Literature, or a related subject.

  • A passion for education and a desire to support the academic progress of young people.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • A patient, empathetic, and proactive approach to working with secondary-aged students.

  • Confidence working with pupils aged 11–16 in a classroom or intervention setting.

  • Previous experience working with young people (e.g., tutoring, mentoring, youth work) is desirable but not essential.

What’s in it for You?

  • Weekly pay between £446.90 and £500, depending on experience.

  • Full-time experience in a supportive and inclusive secondary school.

  • On-the-job training and support from experienced teachers and staff.

  • Opportunity to gain experience that supports future teacher training applications.

  • Access to Teaching Personnel’s CPD Academy for training and development.
