Designated Safeguarding & Pastoral Lead
Location: Royston
Contract Type: Full time, Permanent
Hours: 40 hours per week
Salary: £35,000 - £40,000 per annum
Teaching Personnel have an exciting opportunity to work with an exceptional SEN school based in Royston. The school are currently seeking a Designated Safeguarding & Pastoral Lead to join their leadership team across the services, taking responsibility for the management of safeguarding issues both on and off site.
Key Duties:
- To develop the improvement of individual and site practice around behaviour and safeguarding and be responsible for policy implementation of these elements, ensuring all practice is in line with all statutory guidelines, CQC & Ofsted regulations
- To coordinate the effective implementation of the Attendance Policy.
- To provide relevant behaviour and safeguarding training to staff through CPD.
- To ensure that all relevant compliance has been completed with the support of the school business manager in the completion of reports and audits
- Communicate with parents/carers, employees, other agencies, and local authorities on the progress of children and young people and the effectiveness of intervention and support strategies
- Exercise a key role in advising and assisting the Service Leads with the strategic development of behaviour, pastoral, wellbeing, and preparing for adulthood offers, including reviewing, and formulating policies.
Qualifications
- GCSE (or equivalent) in English & Maths
- DSL training level 3 or above and experience working as a DSL.
- Level 3 in Health and Social Care, or working with children and young people (Desirable)
- Proven track record of excellent creative and structured pastoral interventions within relevant special needs environment.
- Experience of holding responsibility for and turning policy into effective and successful practice.
- Successful management of complex scenarios and conflict resolution as well as experience of using effective behaviour and teaching strategies.
- Understanding of the implementation of ASD intervention and support strategies (TEACCH, attention Autism or other similar).
- Experience of OFSTED & CQC inspections and following action planning.
