Behaviour Mentor

  • Full-time role (8.30am-3.30pm)
  • SEN Primary Provision
  • Mid/ Late September start 2024
  • Initially for the Autumn term (September 2022-December 2022)

An SEN provision in Burnley is seeking a passionate support assistant who can provide support for their young people with additional needs aged 5-11. The young people's needs vary and an understanding approach much be adopted!

Your working day will involve supporting pupils in varying subjects across the curriculum. The school covers the primary curriculum, and all subjects are delivered in ability and age based; differentiated to meet the individual needs of all the children within the class group. You will also assist with the development of social and emotional skills and encourage positive behaviours, relationships, and outcomes. As a behaviour mentor you will deliver interventions to the students, providing them with strategies to regulate their emotions. The sole purpose of this role is to develop and maintain positive, trusting relationships with the children – encouraging them in removing their barriers to learning.

Class sizes are small, generally between 6-7 students per class with learning led by a teacher and supported by an appropriate number of teaching assistants reflecting the individual needs and abilities of the group. You will be working with children across EYFS – KS2.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
