Job description

Job Title: Youth Worker – Learning Support (Primary Schools, Bristol)

Location: Bristol and surrounding areas

Contract Type: Long-term opportunities available

Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience

Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of young learners?

We are currently seeking a dedicated and compassionate Youth Worker to join our team, working within primary schools across Bristol and the surrounding areas. This is an exciting opportunity for an individual who is committed to supporting pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN) and helping them thrive in an inclusive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-on-one support to pupils with SEN, helping them engage with the curriculum and achieve their individual learning goals.
  • Support small groups of students with additional learning needs, creating a positive and supportive classroom atmosphere.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and tailored learning strategies.
  • Work closely with teachers, SENCOs, and other professionals to ensure pupils receive the appropriate support and guidance.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive environment for all students, promoting their emotional and social development.
  • Provide feedback and report on pupil progress to relevant staff members.

Skills and Experience:

  • Experience working with children or young people, ideally in a school or educational setting.
  • Understanding of SEN and strategies to support diverse learning needs.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with pupils, teachers, and parents.
  • Patience, empathy, and a proactive approach to supporting children with varying needs.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • A relevant qualification in education, youth work, or a related field is desirable but not essential.

In order to work for Teaching Personnel and clear our vetting process, you must have a Child Workforce DBS subscribed to the Update Service. Full assistance will be provided should you need to apply for a new check, at a standard cost of £49.50, plus an annual subscription fee of £16 for the Update Service.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
