Job description

Fluent Welsh Teaching Assistant

Hours: 8:30 AM - 3:30 PM (Monday to Friday)

Daily Rate: £89

Start Date: ASAP (Subject to vetting requirements)

Location: Cardiff

About the Role:

Teaching Personnel partners with multiple Primary Schools across Cardiff, helping to match you with the perfect role. As a Teaching Assistant, you’ll play a vital role in the classroom, creating an encouraging, supportive, and engaging learning environment — all while promoting the Welsh language and culture.

Your Day-to-Day Responsibilities:

Foster a positive and nurturing atmosphere to keep students motivated.

Support children’s bilingual learning, encouraging confidence in both Welsh and English.

Assist the teacher with classroom setup and daily activities.

Supervise students during break times and lunch.

Follow school policies and procedures to ensure a safe and structured environment.

Provide 1:1 or small group support to students who need extra help.

What We’re Looking For:

Fluent Welsh speaker, passionate about supporting bilingual education.

Energetic, enthusiastic, and dedicated to helping children succeed.

Adaptable and flexible in a fast-paced school environment.

Positive, friendly, and engaging personality.

Requirements:

No formal qualifications required — perfect for those eager to gain hands-on experience in education.

A genuine passion for supporting children’s learning and development.

Strong communication and teamwork skills.

Prior experience with children (e.g., volunteering, babysitting, coaching) is beneficial but not essential.

Enhanced DBS check (Child Workforce) — we can assist with this.

EWC registration (Education Workforce Council) — support provided if needed.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
