Job description

Position: Full-Time KS2 Teaching Assistant
Location: Preston
Salary: £12.90 per hour
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:45am – 3:30pm

About the Role:
We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic KS2 Teaching Assistant to join our team and provide general classroom support across Years 3, 4, 5, and 6. This is an exciting opportunity to make a real difference in the learning experience of our older primary school students, supporting them as they progress through key stage 2. As a KS2 Teaching Assistant, your responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting the class teacher in delivering lessons and activities across a range of subjects for Years 3 to 6.
  • Providing tailored support to individuals or small groups of children, helping them to develop their academic skills and achieve their potential.
  • Assisting with classroom management, maintaining a focused and productive learning environment.
  • Helping students with tasks such as reading, writing, maths, and other curriculum areas.
  • Encouraging positive behaviour and fostering a supportive classroom atmosphere.
  • Assisting with the preparation and organisation of teaching materials and resources.
  • Supporting the teacher in assessing and recording students’ progress, and providing feedback when necessary.
  • Supervising children during lunch and break times.
  • Offering support with students’ emotional and social development, promoting positive relationships and inclusivity.

Key Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with children, particularly in a school setting, is preferred.
  • A genuine interest in supporting children’s learning and development.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Patience, flexibility, and a positive attitude towards supporting students’ individual needs.
  • A Teaching Assistant qualification is desirable but not essential.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
