Job description

Teaching Assistant required for a community special school catering to students aged 4 to 19 with moderate learning difficulties and autistic spectrum disorders. They are dedicated to improving the social and emotional well-being of our students through various therapeutic and educational approaches, including Music, Drama, Social Interaction therapy, Thrive, and Forest School sessions. 

Position Overview: We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Teaching Assistant. The successful candidate will support teachers in delivering tailored educational programs, assist students with diverse learning needs, and contribute to creating a positive and inclusive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist teachers in preparing lesson materials and setting up classroom equipment.
  • Support individual students or small groups to reinforce learning concepts.
  • Supervise students during class, transitions, and recreational activities.
  • Help manage classroom behavior and promote a positive learning atmosphere.
  • Provide support to students with special educational needs, including those with autism and moderate learning difficulties.
  • Assist in maintaining accurate records of student progress and behavior.
  • Assist with personal care where required

Who are we looking for?

  • Previous experience working with children or young adults with special educational needs is essential
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting students' learning and development.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
