If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you to join our team as a Teaching Assistant specializing in SEN, based within our mainstream school's SEN base in Cardiff.
Position Overview: As a Teaching Assistant specializing in SEN, you will work closely with students with various special educational needs, supporting their learning and development within our SEN base. You will collaborate with teachers, SENCOs, and other professionals to implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and provide personalized support to ensure each student reaches their full potential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide one-on-one and small group support to students with SEN, including assisting with academic tasks, social integration, and emotional well-being.
- Assist in the implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and behavior management strategies.
- Adapt teaching materials and resources to meet the individual needs and learning styles of students with SEN.
- Foster a supportive and inclusive classroom environment where all students feel valued and empowered.
- Collaborate effectively with teachers, SENCOs, and external professionals to monitor student progress and adjust support strategies as needed.
- Maintain accurate records of student progress and participate in regular team meetings and training sessions.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Previous experience working with students with SEN, preferably within a mainstream school setting.
- NVQ Level 3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools or equivalent qualification is desirable.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents/carers.
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting the learning and development of students with diverse needs.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and independently when required.
- Knowledge of SEN-specific strategies and interventions, including Makaton, PECS, or TEACCH, is advantageous but not essential.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
