Job Advertisement: Key Stage 1 Teaching Assistant
Location: Burnley, BB10

Are you passionate about education and eager to make a real difference in the lives of young learners? Our welcoming and inclusive primary school in Burley is seeking a dedicated Key Stage 1 Teaching Assistant to join our team.

The Role

As a Key Stage 1 Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting children’s learning and development. This includes:

  • Leading small group intervention sessions to help children reach their learning goals.
  • Providing additional support for children with special educational needs (SEN), adapting activities to suit individual needs.
  • Assisting the class teacher in creating an engaging, positive learning environment.
  • Building strong, supportive relationships with children, encouraging their confidence and independence.
  • Monitoring pupil progress and providing feedback to teachers to inform lesson planning.
  • Supporting the delivery of the Key Stage 1 curriculum, ensuring all children are engaged and included.

About You

We are looking for someone who is:

  • Passionate about supporting children’s development and education.
  • Patient, empathetic, and able to work effectively with children who have additional needs.
  • Confident in leading small groups and delivering targeted interventions.
  • A great communicator who can build positive relationships with pupils, colleagues, and parents.
  • Flexible, proactive, and eager to contribute to our school community.

Essential Requirements:

  • Experience working with children, ideally in a primary school setting.
  • GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths (Grade C/4 or above).
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification.
  • Experience working with children with SEN or providing intervention support.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
