Job description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced 1:1 Teaching Assistant to provide dedicated support to a male student in an alternative provision setting. This full-time position offers the potential to become permanent for the right candidate.

The school specializes in supporting students who have struggled in mainstream education and require additional guidance to overcome challenges. Many of the students have Education, Health, and Care Plans (EHCPs) in place and may display challenging behaviors. This role is crucial in helping the student feel supported, encouraged, and empowered to achieve their full potential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide focused 1:1 support to a male student, adapting strategies to meet their specific needs.
  • Build a positive and trusting relationship with the student, creating a safe and encouraging learning environment.
  • Manage challenging behaviors effectively, using de-escalation techniques and fostering a sense of security.
  • Support the student in achieving academic and personal goals in line with their EHCP.
  • Work collaboratively with teaching staff and other professionals to ensure consistent and effective support.

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Has experience working in alternative provision settings or with students who have struggled in mainstream education.
  • Skilled in managing challenging behaviors with patience, resilience, and a calm approach.
  • Empathetic and understanding, with a passion for helping young people overcome barriers to learning.
  • Capable of building strong, positive relationships with students, staff, and families.
  • Flexible and adaptable, with a commitment to creating a supportive and inclusive environment.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
