Position: Educational Support Worker
Location: Independent Special School, Silverstone
Salary: Competitive, Dependent on experience
Start Date: September 2024
Contract: Permanent

A highly reputable SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) School Group is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Educational Support Worker to join the permanent staff of their independent special school in Silverstone, starting September 2024.

The Educational Support Worker will play a crucial role in supporting students with social, emotional, and mental health needs. The successful candidate will work closely with teachers and other professionals to provide tailored assistance to students, helping them achieve their academic and personal goals in a nurturing and supportive environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-on-one and group support to students with SEMH needs, facilitating their engagement and participation in the curriculum.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of individualized learning plans and behavior management strategies.
  • Support students in managing their emotions and developing positive social skills.
  • Monitor and record student progress, providing feedback to teachers and parents as needed.
  • Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team, including teachers, therapists, and external agencies, to ensure a holistic approach to student support.
  • Promote a safe and inclusive classroom environment, addressing any issues that arise with sensitivity and professionalism.

Requirements:

  • Relevant qualifications in education, psychology, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Proven experience working with children or young people with SEMH needs.
  • Strong understanding of SEMH challenges and effective strategies for support.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, families, and colleagues.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, demonstrating flexibility and initiative.
  • A compassionate and patient approach, with a commitment to supporting each student’s individual needs.
  • Enhanced DBS check and safeguarding training will be required.
