Job description

A highly reputable and independent SEN secondary school located in Towcester, near Silverstone, is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Education Support Worker to join their permanent staff team starting in January 2025, or sooner if available.

This is a fantastic opportunity to work within a supportive, forward-thinking environment that values inclusivity and provides specialized education for students with special educational needs (SEN). The successful candidate will work closely with teachers and other educational staff to support the learning, development, and well-being of the students.

Salary Range:

  • £24,420 - £25,410 per annum (dependent on relevant qualifications and experience). Plus SEN allowance and additional benefits.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide in-class support for students with SEN, adapting approaches to suit individual learning styles and needs.
  • Assist in the planning and delivery of tailored learning activities, ensuring students remain engaged and achieve their learning objectives.
  • Promote positive behavior and emotional well-being, helping students develop essential life and social skills.
  • Monitor and report on student progress, working collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and parents.
  • Support the creation of a safe, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment.
  • Attend meetings and training sessions as required, contributing to the continuous improvement of the school’s SEN provision.

Requirements:

  • Experience in supporting young people with special educational needs (SEN), particularly in a secondary school setting.
  • Relevant qualifications in education or child development (e.g., Level 2/3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning, or equivalent).
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.
  • Patience, empathy, and a commitment to improving outcomes for students with SEN.
  • A proactive, flexible approach to work, with the ability to adapt to the dynamic needs of the school environment.
  • A good understanding of safeguarding procedures and the importance of promoting a safe environment for students.
  • The ability to work effectively as part of a team, as well as independently.
  • Enhanced DBS clearance (or willingness to obtain one prior to employment).
