Learning Support Assistant

Teaching Personnel is currently looking for Learning Support Assistants for one of our client schools in Central Manchester. This position will be starting in September at the beginning of the academic year, and it will be full-time.

The salary for this position will be between £420 and £450 per week.

Our client school is looking for Learning Support Assistants to join their SEN department, to support their students who have autism. This position will be hugely important in their students’ development. The ideal candidate for this position is someone who has previous experience working with children with autism, or a recent psychology graduate with a good understanding of children with special needs.

The key responsibilities of this role:

• Reporting to the SENCO
• Working on a 1:1 basis or in small groups of children who have autism and require additional learning support.
• You must be able to manage behaviour that has the potential to be challenging.
• You must be able to build relationships with the pupils, so that you can help them in their learning development.
• You must be fully aware of all safeguarding procedures and be able to deal with any situations that may arise.

You will be supported by Teaching Personnel throughout your employment as well as the school. For the right candidate, there will be the opportunity for progression through further teacher training.

For this position it is essential that you have experience working with children with autism or that you are a recent Psychology Graduate. It is essential that you are willing to apply for a fully enhanced DBS check, and that you are able to provide at least two employment references.
