SEN Youth Worker

Teaching Personnel are currently recruiting for a number of SEN teaching Assistants in the Bury area. These roles will suit someone who has previously worked as a youth worker, care assistant or learning mentor.

Our SEN partner schools are excellently equipped with state-of-the-art facilities. The class sizes are kept small, with 8-10 children per class in order for each of them to reach their full potential.

As our SEN schools are specialist provisions, the children will have additional barriers to learning, such as speech and language needs, communication and interaction needs, hearing impairment visual impairment, autistic spectrum continuum, attention deficit and hyperactivity disorder, a range of physical disabilities and sensory needs, or social, emotional, mental health issues.

The ideal SEN Teaching Assistant will:

  • Have experience working with SEN
  • Be kind and compassionate
  • Have experience working within a school setting
  • Enhanced DBS on the update service or be willing to obtain this

Your role as a Teaching Assistant will include:

  • Supervise and support pupils ensuring their safety and supporting their access to learning.
  • Establish good working relationships with pupils, acting as a role model and being aware of and responding appropriately to individual needs.
  • Promote inclusion and acceptance of all pupils.
  • Encourage pupils to interact with others and engage in activities led by the teacher.
  • Encourage pupils to be as independent as possible.
  • Attend to the pupils’ personal needs.
  • Implement pupil specific programmes, to support emotional and physical health and welfare needs.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
