Job Title: SEN Teaching Assistant (Secondary School)
Location: Plymouth, Devon
Start Date: January 2025
Contract Type: Full-Time / Term-Time
Daily Rate: £85 - £90 depending on experience

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join our supportive and dynamic team in a vibrant secondary school in Plymouth. The role will commence in January 2025, offering an exciting opportunity for someone committed to making a positive impact in the lives of students with special educational needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide tailored support to students with a range of special educational needs, including learning difficulties, emotional and behavioural challenges, and autism spectrum conditions.
  • Assist the SENCo in implementing individual education plans (IEPs) and ensuring the students' academic, social, and emotional needs are met.
  • Work closely with teachers to differentiate lessons and adapt learning materials to support SEN students.
  • Provide one-to-one or small group support as required, both inside and outside the classroom.
  • Monitor and report on students' progress, highlighting any concerns or developments to the SENCo and teaching staff.
  • Foster a safe, inclusive, and nurturing environment that encourages student engagement and independence.

The Ideal Candidate Will:

  • Have previous experience working with secondary school students, preferably within an SEN environment.
  • Possess strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.
  • Be adaptable, patient, and able to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Hold an understanding of various SEN needs, including ASD, ADHD, and dyslexia, with the ability to implement effective support strategies.
  • Have a commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
  • A relevant qualification in SEN or education support would be desirable but not essential.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
