Job Title: Special Educational Needs (SEN) Teaching Assistant
Location: Southampton
Salary:£12.90 P/H
Contract Type: [Full-Time/Part-Time, Permanent/Temporary]

Job Description:
We are seeking a passionate, dedicated, and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join our team in Southampton. The successful candidate will support students with a variety of special educational needs, ensuring that they can access the curriculum and achieve their potential.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the delivery of tailored lessons and activities for students with SEN.
  • Support students with physical, sensory, and learning disabilities.
  • Help implement individual education plans (IEPs) and other support strategies.
  • Encourage social inclusion and promote positive behavior.
  • Work closely with class teachers and other professionals to provide effective support.
  • Assist in managing classroom behavior and maintaining a positive learning environment.
  • Participate in meetings with parents, guardians, and external specialists.

Key Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with children with special educational needs is highly desirable.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to build positive relationships with students.
  • Patience, empathy, and a proactive approach to supporting students.
  • Knowledge of SEN provisions such as autism, ADHD, dyslexia, or other learning difficulties.
  • A commitment to supporting students in their social and academic development.

Desirable Skills:

  • Experience in behavior management techniques.
  • Knowledge of speech, language, and communication needs.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
