 Special Needs Teaching Assistant

Location: Southampton
Position: Special Needs Teaching Assistant
Salary: £13.86 P/H
Contract Type: Full Time
Start Date: ASAP

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-to-one or small group support to students with SEN, including those with physical, emotional, and learning difficulties.
  • Assist the class teacher in preparing and delivering tailored lessons and activities.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive classroom atmosphere.
  • Support the emotional, social, and behavioral development of students.
  • Help with personal care and mobility as needed.
  • Promote independence and self-confidence in students.
  • Observe and report on students' progress, highlighting areas for development.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with children or young people with SEN is desirable.
  • A patient, compassionate, and adaptable approach to working with children.
  • A strong commitment to promoting inclusion and equal opportunities.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Relevant qualifications (e.g., CACHE Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification) would be advantageous but not essential.
  • A clear understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
