SEN Teaching Assistant

Location:

Job Duties:

The SEN Teaching Assistant will support children with Special Educational Needs (SEN) in their learning and development. Duties include assisting the class teacher in planning and delivering tailored lessons, providing one-on-one support to pupils, helping with classroom management, and ensuring a safe and inclusive learning environment for all pupils.

Required Qualifications:

- A relevant qualification in education or SEN support

- Experience working with children or individuals with SEN

- Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Education:

A minimum of GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths

Experience:

Prior experience working in a school or educational setting is preferred

Knowledge and Skills:

- Understanding of different learning styles and SEN requirements

- Ability to adapt teaching methods to meet individual pupils needs

- Patience, empathy, and a passion for supporting student development

Preferred Qualifications:

- Additional qualifications in SEN or teaching assistance

- Training in safeguarding and child protection

Working Conditions:

This role will involve working in a classroom environment, collaborating with teachers and other support staff. The SEN Teaching Assistant may need to assist with personal care and mobility support for pupils with specific needs. The position requires adherence to school policies and procedures, as well as maintaining confidentiality and professionalism at all times.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
