Salary: Dependent on experience with SEN allowance
Contract: Permanent, Full-Time

About the School Group:

An award-winning Special Educational Needs (SEN) School Group is seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join the permanent staff at their Wakefield site. Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the classroom teacher in delivering tailored educational programs for students with SEN.
  • Assist with the implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and behavior management strategies.
  • Provide one-on-one or small group support to students, helping them to engage fully in their learning activities.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and other support staff to meet the needs of each student.
  • Monitor and record student progress, providing feedback to the teaching team.
  • Support students with personal care needs as required.
  • Promote social and emotional development through positive interactions and reinforcement.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with children or young people with Special Educational Needs (SEN).
  • A genuine passion for supporting the learning and development of students with SEN.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Patience, empathy, and a nurturing approach.
  • The ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Basic understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to meet the varying needs of students.
  • Relevant qualifications in education or SEN (desirable but not essential).

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
