Position: SEN Teaching Assistant

Location:: Chorley, Lancashire

Start date: November 2024

Contract length: temp-to-perm opportunity

An Ofsted rated “good” Secondary School in the PR7 area of Chorley, Lancashire are looking for an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to join their expanding team. This is an exciting temp-to-perm opportunity for the right candidate.

The Role/ Key duties:

  • Your role will be to support the children with their learning and general wellbeing to ensure every child has the best opportunity to reach their full potential in a caring and safe environment (this may include supporting children with care needs from time to time as well as positive behaviour management adopting a tailored approach to the individual child
  • You will be expected to establish a warm, caring and supportive relationship with pupils in order to support them feeling safe and enabling them to enjoy and learn during their time at school
  • To promote and encourage independence and personal development in pupils and maintain high expectations of behaviour at all times
  • Supporting the class teacher and contribute to providing high quality, challenging and differentiated educational activities and experiences through supporting the teaching of a broad, balanced curriculum

Skills and Qualifications

  • Previous experience working within the SEN provision
  • GCSE Maths and English Level 2/C or above qualification is essential
  • Must have excellent communication skills and the ability to adapt
  • Be positive and creative in assisting to meet pupils’ individual needs
  • Must have understanding of the Safeguarding principles and Child Protection procedures

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
