SEN Teaching Assistant (Supporting Students with Challenging Behaviour)
Location: Bridgend
Salary: £83.85 per day
Contract: Full-time
Working Hours: 8:30 – 15:30 (Monday to Friday)
Start Date: ASAP

About Us
Teaching Personnel is working with a dedicated SEN school catering to students aged 3-19 with a variety of special educational needs and complex behavioural challenges. Our mission is to find staff members able to empower students to reach their full potential through individualized education, a nurturing environment, and consistent support. We are looking for a dedicated Teaching Assistant to join our team and work closely with students who display extremely challenging behaviour, helping them to build confidence, resilience, and independence.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide support to students in the classroom and other school settings, focusing on students with challenging behaviour.
- Work closely with teachers, therapists, and other professionals to deliver individual education plans (IEPs) and ensure a tailored approach to each student’s learning and behavioural needs.
- Employ de-escalation techniques and implement behaviour management strategies, maintaining a safe and structured environment.
- Assist students with personal care when required, promoting their independence and well-being.
- Encourage positive social interactions and effective communication skills among students.
About You
We are seeking a compassionate, proactive individual who is confident in their ability to manage challenging behaviour in a calm and effective manner. The ideal candidate will possess:
- Experience working with SEN students, particularly those with challenging behaviour.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with students, staff, and parents.
- A strong understanding of behaviour management techniques and approaches, such as positive reinforcement and de-escalation strategies.
- Resilience, patience, and empathy, with a genuine commitment to improving outcomes for young people with complex needs.
- A team-oriented approach and the flexibility to adapt to a dynamic school environment.
- Relevant qualifications in child development, SEN, or social care are desirable but not essential.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
