SEN Teaching Assistant

We are looking for an enthusiastic SEN Teaching Assistant to join a well-established specialist campus in Bournemouth from April 2025.
About the Campus
This specialist campus provides tailored education for students aged 3 to 18 with a wide range of special educational needs and disabilities, including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD). They delivers a comprehensive curriculum from the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) through to Post-16 education, ensuring students receive the support they need to thrive.
The school fosters a calm and supportive environment, designed to meet the specific needs of its students. Facilities include quiet rooms, therapy suites, one-to-one speech and language rooms, immersive sensory spaces with adjustable lighting, interactive soft play areas, and secure outdoor breakout spaces.
The school operates from 9.00 am to 3.30 pm with a 30-minute unpaid lunch break.
Your Role
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, your key responsibilities will include:
- Providing individualised support tailored to each student’s learning needs.
- Promoting emotional and social well-being within a safe and nurturing environment.
- Assisting teachers in creating inclusive learning experiences and tracking student progress.
- Encouraging student engagement through creative and adaptive teaching methods.
- Keeping accurate records of incidents, accidents, and safeguarding concerns.
- Working closely with specialists, such as speech and language therapists, to support student development.
What We’re Looking For
To excel in this role, you should:
- Have experience supporting children or adults with special needs.
- Be comfortable assisting with personal care, if required.
- Hold a minimum of 5 GCSEs (or equivalent).
- Be adaptable and flexible, able to support different learning styles.
- Demonstrate patience, empathy, and a caring nature.
- Possess strong communication and listening skills.
- Remain calm under pressure, ensuring students feel supported and secure.

- An enhanced DBS check (as you will be working with children).

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
