SEN Learning Support Assistant

Location: Preston, Lancashire.
Position: SEN Learning Support Assistant (Primary).
Salary: Competitive, based on experience.
Contract: Full-time, Term-time only, Temporary PAYE Contract.

About the Role:

We are seeking an enthusiastic and compassionate SEN Learning Support Assistant to work closely with children who have a range of special educational needs, including autism, speech and language difficulties, and social-emotional challenges. You will be key to delivering personalised support, helping students achieve their full potential in both academic and personal growth.

The ideal candidate will have experience working with children or adults, not necessarily in an educational setting. You must have a caring, patient approach to learning. You should be able to build trusting relationships, communicate effectively, and bring positivity to every challenge.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work 1:1 or in small groups with students, providing tailored support based on individual needs
  • Assist with planning and delivering engaging, sensory-based learning activities
  • Support the class teacher in creating an inclusive, safe, and stimulating classroom environment
  • Foster positive social interactions and emotional development, ensuring each child feels valued and supported
  • Use communication aids and strategies to help students develop language and interaction skills
  • Help with personal care needs as required, always promoting independence and dignity

Requirements:

  • Experience working with primary-aged children with SEN (preferred)
  • Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant qualification or similar (desirable)
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
