The school caters to students aged 11-19, with a primary focus on supporting those with challenging behaviour including complex communication and social, emotional, mental health difficulties.

We are currently seeking a Full-Time Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to join our dedicated team. This is a fantastic opportunity for individuals who are passionate about supporting young people with special educational needs to make a meaningful difference in their lives.

The curriculum is designed to meet the diverse and individual needs of each student, with a strong emphasis on preparing them for adulthood through life skills, vocational training, and functional skills. The school also offers a range of extracurricular activities aimed at developing social and communication skills, physical abilities, and promoting overall wellbeing.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide one-to-one or small group support to students, assisting them in accessing the curriculum and engaging with learning activities

• Assist in the delivery of lessons that are tailored to the individual educational, social, and emotional needs of students

• Support the classroom teacher in managing student behaviour and maintaining a positive and inclusive learning environment

• Encourage students’ personal, social, and academic development through various teaching strategies

• Help with the preparation and organisation of classroom resources and learning materials

• Support the monitoring of student progress and assist in the implementation of individual education plans (IEPs)

Person Specification:

• A genuine passion for working with young people with special educational needs

• Previous experience working with children or young people, ideally in an educational setting

• Strong communication skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents

• A positive, proactive attitude and the ability to work effectively as part of a team

• A Child Enhanced DBS check on the update service (this will be required at the applicant’s own cost)
