We are excited to offer an excellent opportunity to join a well-established Special Educational Needs (SEN) school in Basingstoke, which is part of a respected academy trust known for providing outstanding support and education for young people with a wide range of learning needs. The school caters to students aged 11-19, with a primary focus on supporting those with challenging behaviour including complex communication and social, emotional, mental health difficulties.

We are currently seeking a Full-Time Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to join our dedicated team. This is a fantastic opportunity for individuals who are passionate about supporting young people with special educational needs to make a meaningful difference in their lives.

The curriculum is designed to meet the diverse and individual needs of each student, with a strong emphasis on preparing them for adulthood through life skills, vocational training, and functional skills. The school also offers a range of extracurricular activities aimed at developing social and communication skills, physical abilities, and promoting overall wellbeing.
Key Responsibilities:

Provide one-to-one or small group support to students, assisting them in accessing the curriculum and engaging with learning activities

Assist in the delivery of lessons that are tailored to the individual educational, social, and emotional needs of students

Support the classroom teacher in managing student behaviour and maintaining a positive and inclusive learning environment

Encourage students’ personal, social, and academic development through various teaching strategies
-
Help with the preparation and organisation of classroom resources and learning materials
-
Support the monitoring of student progress and assist in the implementation of individual education plans (IEPs)
Person Specification:
-
A genuine passion for working with young people with special educational needs
-
Previous experience working with children or young people, ideally in an educational setting
-
Strong communication skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents
-
A positive, proactive attitude and the ability to work effectively as part of a team
-
A Child Enhanced DBS check on the update service (this will be required at the applicant’s own cost)

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
