Role Overview:

Teaching Personnel is seeking a dedicated and inspiring Science Teacher to join a thriving secondary school in Levenshulme. This full-time position, starting in March, offers an exciting opportunity to cover a maternity leave and contribute to a school known for its inclusive ethos and high standards of education.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Engaging Lessons: Plan and deliver outstanding Science lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4, ensuring students are motivated and challenged to reach their full potential.
  • Curriculum Delivery: Teach Biology, Chemistry, and Physics, adapting content to meet the diverse needs of learners and aligning with the school’s curriculum objectives.
  • Student Assessment: Regularly assess and monitor student progress, providing clear and constructive feedback to help students achieve academic success.
  • Classroom Management: Create a positive and well-structured learning environment that fosters curiosity, respect, and enthusiasm for Science.
  • Collaborative Working: Work closely with colleagues in the Science department to develop engaging schemes of work and share best practices.
  • Support and Guidance: Provide academic and pastoral support to students, encouraging a love for Science and helping them explore related career pathways.
  • Parental Engagement: Communicate effectively with parents and guardians about student progress and address any concerns.
  • Whole School Contribution: Participate in departmental meetings, training sessions, and school-wide initiatives to contribute to the school’s vibrant community.

Ideal Candidate:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS): Holds QTS or equivalent teaching qualifications with a specialism in Science.
  • Experience: Proven experience teaching Science at the secondary level, with a solid understanding of the curriculum and effective teaching strategies.
  • Subject Passion: Demonstrates enthusiasm for Science and a commitment to fostering a deeper understanding of the subject in students.
  • Adaptability: Capable of tailoring lessons to meet the varying needs and abilities of students, including those with additional educational needs.
  • Strong Communication: Possesses excellent interpersonal and communication skills to build positive relationships with students, colleagues, and parents.
  • Team-Oriented: A collaborative individual who thrives in a supportive and dynamic team environment.
  • Commitment to Excellence: Maintains high expectations for teaching, learning, and professional development.
