Location: Chorlton-cum-Hardy
Agency: Teaching Personnel

Start Date: After Easter
Contract Type: Full-Time, Long-Term Absence Cover
Salary: £120 - £230 per day (dependent on experience)

About the Role:
Teaching Personnel is seeking a passionate and committed Science Teacher to join a highly regarded secondary school in Chorlton-cum-Hardy. This is a full-time position starting after Easter to cover a long-term absence. The role presents an excellent opportunity to teach in a well-established science department within a diverse and inclusive school community.

The successful candidate will deliver engaging and dynamic science lessons across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4, fostering curiosity and enthusiasm for the subject. The school is known for its high standards of teaching and learning and is looking for a teacher who can maintain these expectations while supporting student progress.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan, prepare, and deliver high-quality science lessons aligned with the national curriculum.
  • Teach Biology, Chemistry, and Physics at Key Stage 3 and a specialist science subject at Key Stage 4.
  • Use a variety of teaching strategies to engage students of different abilities and learning styles.
  • Assess, monitor, and report on student progress, providing targeted support when needed.
  • Encourage scientific inquiry and critical thinking through practical experiments and investigations.
  • Maintain high standards of behaviour, engagement, and academic achievement in the classroom.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues in the Science Department to share best practices and resources.
  • Participate in extracurricular science activities, clubs, and school events where applicable.

Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification.
  • Experience teaching Science at Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 (Key Stage 5 experience is advantageous but not essential).
  • Strong subject knowledge and a passion for inspiring students in science.
  • Effective classroom management skills and the ability to engage students of all abilities.
  • A commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment.
