Role Overview:

Teaching Personnel is seeking an enthusiastic and skilled Science Teacher to join a high-performing and inclusive secondary school in Dukinfield. This full-time role begins in January to cover a maternity leave, offering an opportunity to make a meaningful contribution to the education of a diverse group of students.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Curriculum Delivery: Teach engaging and well-structured Science lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4, covering Biology, Chemistry, and Physics topics.
  • Student Development: Support a wide range of learners, ensuring they achieve their academic and personal potential through tailored teaching strategies and interventions.
  • Lesson Planning: Design and implement creative lesson plans that align with the school’s curriculum goals and foster curiosity and enthusiasm for Science.
  • Assessment and Feedback: Assess students’ work regularly, providing constructive feedback to promote progress and prepare them for exams and assessments.
  • Classroom Management: Establish and maintain a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student participation and engagement.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with the Science department to share resources, plan collaboratively, and contribute to the department's overall success.
  • Pastoral Duties: Support students pastorally and contribute to the school’s ethos of care and community.
  • Professional Development: Engage in training and development opportunities provided by the school to enhance teaching practice.

Ideal Candidate:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS): Holds QTS or an equivalent teaching qualification with a specialism in Science.
  • Subject Knowledge: A strong understanding of the Science curriculum and the ability to teach Biology, Chemistry, and Physics confidently at Key Stages 3 and 4.
  • Teaching Experience: Proven experience in delivering high-quality Science lessons to students of varying abilities.
  • Classroom Management Skills: Skilled in creating a structured and positive learning environment where all students can thrive.
  • Passion for Science: Dedicated to inspiring a love for Science and fostering critical thinking and problem-solving skills in students.
  • Team Player: Works collaboratively with colleagues, contributing to the success of the Science department and the wider school community.
  • Adaptability and Commitment: Able to plan effectively and adapt teaching approaches to meet the dynamic needs of students.
