Role Overview:
Teaching Personnel is seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Science Teacher to cover a maternity leave at a well-regarded secondary school in Dukinfield, Tameside. This full-time position starts in January and offers an opportunity to inspire and challenge students across Key Stages 3 and 4, fostering a deep understanding and passion for the sciences.
Key Responsibilities:
- Teach Science at Key Stages 3 and 4: Deliver engaging and differentiated lessons across Biology, Chemistry, and Physics, ensuring comprehensive understanding of core scientific principles and their real-world applications.
- Curriculum Development: Plan and implement lessons that align with the school’s high standards, using a variety of resources and approaches to make scientific concepts accessible and exciting for all learners.
- Assessment and Feedback: Regularly assess student progress through homework, quizzes, and exams, providing constructive feedback that supports individual learning and addresses areas for improvement.
- Exam Preparation: Support students in preparing for GCSE examinations, using proven strategies to build confidence and understanding in key scientific areas.
- Laboratory Safety and Practical Work: Ensure safe and effective use of laboratory equipment, managing practical sessions that help students develop scientific inquiry skills in a controlled, secure environment.
- Classroom Environment: Foster a supportive and respectful classroom environment where curiosity is encouraged, and students feel confident to explore scientific questions.
- Collaborative Planning: Work closely with the Science Department, sharing resources and strategies to ensure consistency in curriculum delivery and assessment practices.
- Parental Communication: Maintain open lines of communication with parents and guardians, providing updates on student progress and engaging in collaborative approaches to support individual learning needs.
Ideal Candidate:
- Qualifications: Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a degree in Science (or a related field), with a specialization in any branch of the sciences.
- Experience: Proven experience teaching Science at the secondary level, with an understanding of Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 requirements and exam expectations.
- Passionate Educator: A strong commitment to fostering a love of science and curiosity in students, inspiring them to think critically and engage with scientific topics.
- Organizational Skills: Highly organized, with strong lesson-planning skills that balance curriculum requirements, practical sessions, and exam preparation.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
