Physics Teacher (Maternity Cover)
Location: Levenshulme

Role Overview:

Teaching Personnel is thrilled to offer an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and knowledgeable Physics Teacher to join a respected secondary school in Levenshulme. This full-time maternity cover position begins in January, providing the opportunity to teach in a well-regarded institution known for its inclusive and high-achieving environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Subject Expertise: Deliver engaging and effective Physics lessons to students across Key Stages 3 and 4, with the potential to teach at Key Stage 5 depending on experience.
  • Curriculum Planning: Develop and implement creative and thorough lesson plans that align with the Physics curriculum and inspire curiosity and academic achievement.
  • Assessment and Progress Monitoring: Evaluate student understanding through regular assessments, providing constructive feedback to support continuous improvement.
  • Classroom Management: Establish and maintain a positive, focused, and safe classroom environment that supports student learning and personal development.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with the Science department to develop schemes of work, share best practices, and contribute to extracurricular opportunities.
  • Student Development: Foster a passion for Physics, encourage critical thinking, and support students to achieve their full potential.
  • School Engagement: Participate in staff meetings, parent consultations, and other school activities to contribute to the wider school community.

Ideal Candidate:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS): Holds QTS or an equivalent teaching qualification with a specialism in Physics or Science.
  • Physics Expertise: Strong knowledge of the Physics curriculum with the ability to teach confidently across all levels, including advanced topics at Key Stage 5 if required.
  • Teaching Experience: Demonstrable experience delivering high-quality Physics lessons and managing diverse classroom settings effectively.
  • Passion for Science Education: A deep commitment to inspiring students in Physics, fostering curiosity, and encouraging academic excellence.
  • Effective Communicator: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage students, parents, and colleagues.
  • Team Player: Able to collaborate within a dedicated Science department and contribute positively to the school’s ethos.
  • Organised and Adaptable: Capable of managing a varied workload and tailoring teaching strategies to meet the needs of all learners.
