Psychology Graduate Teaching Assistant – Full-Time Role
Location: Levenshulme
Contract: Full-time, starting after Easter until the end of the academic year
Pay: £419.25 - £500 per week

Teaching Personnel is seeking a Psychology Graduate to join a Good Ofsted-rated secondary school in Levenshulme as a Teaching Assistant. This role is ideal for graduates looking to gain hands-on experience in education, mental health support, or special educational needs (SEN) before pursuing further studies or careers in psychology, teaching, or social work.

The Role:

As a Psychology Graduate Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with students, teachers, and pastoral staff to support learning, well-being, and emotional development. This role involves assisting students with additional needs, including those with social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) challenges, autism spectrum conditions (ASC), and learning difficulties.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing one-to-one and small-group support to students who may require additional academic or emotional assistance.
  • Assisting students with special educational needs (SEN) and adapting learning resources to support their progress.
  • Supporting students with behavioural and emotional regulation strategies.
  • Helping to implement individual education plans (IEPs) and behaviour support strategies in collaboration with SEN coordinators and pastoral teams.
  • Working with teachers to create an inclusive and supportive classroom environment.
  • Encouraging students to develop confidence, resilience, and positive coping mechanisms.
  • Monitoring student progress and providing feedback to teachers and support staff.
  • Supporting students with exam preparation, organisation, and study skills.
  • Promoting safeguarding and well-being in line with school policies and procedures.

The Ideal Candidate:

We are looking for a Psychology Graduate who:

  • Has a degree in Psychology or a related field.
  • Is passionate about supporting young people’s learning and well-being.
  • Has experience working with children or young people in an educational, mentoring, or support setting (preferred but not essential).
  • Is patient, empathetic, and able to build strong relationships with students.
  • Has a good understanding of mental health, SEN, and safeguarding (training will be provided).
  • Can adapt their approach to meet the diverse needs of students.
  • Is proactive, resilient, and committed to making a positive impact in education.
