Learning Support Assistant – Full-Time Role
Location: Secondary School in Tameside
Start Date: ASAP
Contract: Full-time, Permanent
A secondary school in Tameside is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Learning Support Assistant to join their team on a permanent, full-time basis. This role is ideal for someone with a passion for supporting students and helping them overcome barriers to learning, particularly those with additional learning needs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Providing 1:1 and small group support to students with Special Educational Needs (SEN), including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), ADHD, dyslexia, and other learning challenges.
- Assisting students with their academic progress, focusing on core subjects such as English, Maths, and Science.
- Helping to create tailored learning resources and adaptations for students based on their individual needs.
- Supporting students in both the classroom and in smaller settings such as break-out sessions to ensure they can focus and engage with their learning.
- Assisting with classroom management and helping students develop key skills such as social interaction and emotional regulation.
- Liaising with teaching staff, parents, and external agencies to provide the best support for students.
- Assisting with assessment and monitoring student progress, providing regular feedback on student performance.
The Ideal Candidate:
- Experience working with students with Special Educational Needs (preferred but not essential).
- An understanding of different learning needs and how to support students effectively.
- Patient, empathetic, and adaptable, with a genuine interest in making a positive difference to students' lives.
- Excellent communication and organisational skills, able to work well within a team and independently.
- A Level 2 or Level 3 qualification in supporting teaching and learning (or similar) is an advantage.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
