An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dedicated and enthusiastic Mathematics Teacher to join our thriving secondary school in Portsmouth. We are looking for an inspirational educator with a passion for mathematics and a commitment to academic excellence. The Mathematics Department is a high-achieving and forward-thinking team, dedicated to delivering engaging and challenging lessons that inspire success.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver high-quality mathematics lessons to students across Key Stages 3 and 4.

  • Develop and implement engaging lesson plans that cater to a range of learning abilities.

  • Assess, monitor, and track student progress, providing regular feedback and targeted support.

  • Foster a positive learning environment where students feel encouraged, challenged, and supported.

  • Use innovative teaching strategies to make mathematics accessible and exciting.

  • Work collaboratively with the Mathematics Department to share best practices and develop schemes of work.

  • Participate in school-wide activities, including extra-curricular maths clubs, revision sessions, and enrichment opportunities.

  • Maintain high standards of behaviour and engagement in the classroom.

  • Communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues to support student success.

 

The Ideal Candidate

The successful applicant will:

  • Be fully qualified to teach and work in the UK (QTS/QTLS required).
  • Hold a degree in Mathematics or a related subject.
  • Demonstrate a genuine passion for teaching mathematics.
  • Be motivated and resilient, with a strong commitment to achieving excellence.
  • Have the ability to inspire, challenge, and engage students of all abilities.
  • Show strong classroom management skills and the ability to create a positive learning environment.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
