A secondary school in the Portsmouth area is seeking a dedicated and passionate Mathematics Teacher to join our team from September to cover maternity leave. This is an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic teacher to deliver high-quality lessons and inspire students to develop their mathematical skills and confidence.

As a Mathematics Teacher, you will be responsible for planning and delivering engaging and challenging lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4. You will be committed to fostering a positive learning environment where students of all abilities can succeed and achieve their full potential.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver engaging and well-structured lessons that promote mathematical reasoning and problem-solving skills.
  • Assess, monitor, and track student progress, providing constructive feedback to support their development.
  • Adapt teaching strategies to meet the diverse needs of students, ensuring all learners are supported and challenged appropriately.
  • Set high expectations for behaviour and achievement, fostering a culture of respect, resilience, and ambition.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to enhance curriculum delivery and share best practices.
  • Prepare students effectively for GCSE examinations, ensuring they develop the necessary skills and confidence to succeed.
  • Contribute to the wider school community, including participation in extracurricular activities, clubs, and intervention sessions where necessary.

 

What We’re Looking For:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and experience teaching Mathematics at KS3 and KS4.
  • A strong subject knowledge and a passion for mathematics, with the ability to make the subject accessible and engaging for all students.
  • Excellent classroom management skills, with the ability to create a positive and inclusive learning environment.
  • A commitment to continuous professional development, with a reflective approach to teaching and learning.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.
  • A proactive and adaptable approach, ensuring students receive a high-quality education during the maternity cover period.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
