Maths Specialist Teaching Assistant – Full-Time in Levenshulme

Teaching Personnel is seeking a Maths Specialist Teaching Assistant to join an Ofsted-rated "Good" secondary school in Levenshulme. This is a full-time position starting in December, running until the end of the academic year, with the potential to become permanent based on performance. The pay for this role is £419.25 - £500 per week, depending on experience.

Role Overview:

As a Maths Specialist Teaching Assistant, you will be supporting students across a range of abilities, helping them to develop their confidence and understanding of key mathematical concepts. Your role will involve working closely with the maths department to assist in the delivery of lessons and providing targeted support to individual students or small groups who may be struggling with the subject.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supporting the class teacher in the delivery of maths lessons, ensuring students can access the curriculum and participate fully.
  • Providing one-to-one and small group interventions to help students who require extra support with their maths work, including preparing for exams.
  • Assisting with lesson planning and preparation, and adapting resources to meet the needs of individual learners.
  • Monitoring student progress and providing feedback to the class teacher, ensuring support is tailored to each student's specific needs.
  • Helping to manage classroom behavior and keeping students on task during lessons.
  • Offering general classroom support during maths lessons and across the wider school environment when required.

The Ideal Candidate:

  • A background in maths, either as a recent graduate or someone with a strong understanding of the subject.
  • Experience working with students in an educational or tutoring setting, particularly in maths.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain mathematical concepts clearly and effectively.
  • A patient and encouraging approach, with a passion for helping students succeed.
  • The ability to work as part of a team, collaborating with teachers and other support staff to provide the best possible learning experience.

  • Hours: Full-time, Monday to Friday.
  • Pay: £419.25 - £500 per week, depending on experience.
