Maths Graduate Teaching Assistant – Full-Time Role in Chorlton-cum-Hardy

Teaching Personnel is excited to recruit a Maths Graduate Teaching Assistant for an Ofsted-rated "Good" secondary school located in Chorlton-cum-Hardy. This full-time role begins in January and will continue until the end of the academic year, with the potential for the position to become permanent based on performance. This opportunity offers a competitive weekly pay rate of £419.25 - £500, depending on qualifications and experience.

About the Role

This role is ideal for recent graduates in mathematics who are considering a career in teaching or education. You will play a key role in supporting students’ learning, helping them overcome challenges in maths, and fostering a deeper understanding of the subject. Working closely with teachers and support staff, you will help create a positive and engaging environment for students to succeed.

Key Responsibilities

  • Classroom Assistance: Support the classroom teacher in delivering engaging and effective maths lessons, ensuring students stay on track and engaged.
  • Targeted Interventions: Provide tailored one-to-one and small-group sessions to support students who need additional help with maths concepts.
  • Curriculum Support: Assist in planning and preparing resources to meet the needs of students across different abilities.
  • Mentoring: Act as a mentor to students, offering guidance and encouragement to help build their confidence in maths and problem-solving skills.
  • Progress Monitoring: Work with teachers to track and assess student progress, identifying areas for improvement and adjusting support accordingly.
  • Behavioural Support: Promote a positive and respectful classroom atmosphere, encouraging good behaviour and a growth mindset among students.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Mathematics Graduate: A degree in maths or a closely related field is essential.
  • Passion for Education: A genuine interest in helping young people succeed and a desire to pursue a career in education.
  • Strong Communicator: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage students effectively.
  • Proactive and Adaptable: Willing to take the initiative and adapt to the needs of a dynamic school environment.
  • Experience (Desirable): Previous experience working with young people in any capacity is advantageous but not essential.
