Teaching Assistant – Specialist School in Hythe

A small, specialist school in Hythe is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to join their team on a full-time, permanent basis. This role presents an opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the lives of young people with trauma-related behaviours and additional needs.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Providing tailored support to students with trauma-related behaviours and special educational needs.
  • Collaborating with teachers and support staff to foster a safe and engaging learning environment.
  • Assisting in the adaptation of learning materials and teaching strategies to meet individual student requirements.
  • Supporting students in developing resilience, confidence, and positive relationships.

Candidate Requirements:

  • Knowledge or experience of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) within education or care settings.
  • A patient, empathetic, and proactive approach to supporting students with additional needs.
  • Prior experience working within a school setting is advantageous; however, candidates with transferable skills and relevant personal experience will also be considered.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively alongside staff, parents, and external professionals.
  • Due to the school’s location, a driving licence or close proximity to the area is preferable.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
