A school for those with mental health needs is seeking a Learning Support Assistant to support their young people.

The school accepts students with Social, Emotional, Mental Health and Behavioural needs, though they may face additional challenges and diagnoses including ADHD, Asperger’s, SpLD, MLD, OCD, Dyslexia, Dyspraxia, Dyscalculia, Foetal Alcohol Syndrome or a variety of other conditions.

Additionally, many of the students have serious social issues and very difficult home lives resulting in complex emotional difficulties.

All students attending this school have individual needs that have proved too complex to be addressed within a mainstream setting. The school provides effective support and a suitably differentiated curriculum, enabling them to progress and succeed to the best of their ability.

The Learning Support Assistant would be responsible for:

  • Ensuring young people are supported with tasks set by the Teacher
  • Supporting with pupils who are in need of 1:1 support
  • Supporting with de-escalation of challenging behaviour where necessary
  • Reporting on progress
  • Providing a positive and calm influence

This Learning Support Assistant role would be ideal for those:

  • Previous experience within a school, care, youth work or mental health support environment
  • With personal experience of supporting those with additional needs such as mental health needs
  • A proactive attitude
  • A calm and patient personality

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
