About the Role:

We are seeking a caring, enthusiastic, and dedicated Learning Support Assistant to support our KS1 pupils (Years 1 and 2) at one of our local schools. The ideal candidate will assist in the delivery of a high-quality education by providing support to individual children or small groups, helping them reach their full potential in a nurturing and inclusive environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide 1:1 and small group support for children in KS1, including children with special educational needs (SEN).
• Support the development of literacy, numeracy, and social skills in line with the KS1 curriculum.
• Work closely with class teachers to implement tailored support and ensure the needs of all students are met.
• Assist in the preparation of learning resources and activities that meet the needs of all children.
• Help to manage behavior and create a positive, inclusive classroom environment.
• Monitor and record children’s progress and contribute to progress meetings.
• Support children with emotional, behavioral, or social challenges as required.
• Encourage and support children’s independence and self-confidence in the classroom.

Skills and Qualifications:

• Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent) is desirable.
• Previous experience working with children in a primary school setting, especially in KS1, is preferred.
• Experience supporting children with SEN, including Autism, ADHD, or speech and language difficulties, is an advantage.
• A nurturing, patient, and empathetic approach to working with children.
• Good understanding of the KS1 curriculum and how to support children in their learning.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
• Ability to adapt to the needs of individual children and create a supportive learning environment.
