Job description

Job Title: KS3 LAC Tutor

Location:

East of England, Essex, Chelmsford

Job Type:

Temporary, expected to work Full-Time hours

£20 - £30 Per hour

Job Duties:

  • Provide academic support and guidance to Key Stage 3 (KS3) Looked After Children (LAC) in a one-on-one or small group setting
  • Develop tailored lesson plans to address individual learning needs and goals
  • Monitor student progress and adjust teaching methods accordingly
  • Collaborate with school staff, social workers, and parents to ensure a holistic approach to student support
  • Keep detailed records of student attendance, progress, and any concerns

Required Qualifications:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Experience working with Looked After Children (LAC) or vulnerable young people

Education:

Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Education or related field

Experience:

At least 2 years of teaching experience in a similar role

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Strong understanding of the Key Stage 3 curriculum
  • Ability to adapt teaching strategies to meet diverse learning needs
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Empathy and patience when working with vulnerable students
  • Organisational skills and attention to detail

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Additional training in Special Educational Needs (SEN) or Child Protection
  • Experience in conducting assessments and creating individual education plans

Working Conditions:

This role involves working closely with vulnerable young people and may require flexibility in working hours to accommodate student needs. The work environment will primarily be in educational settings such as schools or learning centres.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
