Job description

This nurturing and supporting school in Yeovil aim to provide a happy and secure learning environment for young people between the ages of 4-19 with complex learning difficulties. As a HLTA, your main responsibilities and duties will include:

  • Supporting the teaching and learning process
  • Provide care and supervision of pupils within the classroom, within the school and outside of the school
  • Physical effort and working conditions (periods of crouching/bending to engage with pupils, physical support/assistance as well as manual handling)
  • Deliver training to the whole school within fields of specialism/knowledge
  • Deliver assemblies for agreed classes
  • Maintain a clean, safe and tidy learning environment
  • Under agreed supervision and when appropriately trained, you may also be asked to support with First Aid and medical procedures.

Essential requirements

  • GCSE Maths and English A-C
  • Experience of working with young people with special needs (SEND) OR experience working in a school setting
  • Commitment to CPD
  • Ability to use ICT, Word and Excel
  • Training or expertise in a relevant curriculum or learning area (Maths, English, ICT etc)
  • Experience contributing to the assessments and monitoring of pupil progress

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
