Psychology Graduate Assistant - Special Educational Needs

About Us:

At Teaching Personnel we are seeking passionate psychology graduates who are eager to make a positive impact and gain valuable hands-on experience in educational psychology.

Role Overview:
This is an excellent opportunity for psychology graduates looking to start their career in educational psychology. You will work closely with students with a range of special educational needs, including Autism, Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD), Global Learning Delays, and Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities (PMLD). You will play a key role in supporting classroom activities and providing personal care as necessary.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the development and implementation of individualised learning plans for students.
  • Support students in the classroom by facilitating engagement in activities and encouraging participation.
  • Collaborate with teachers and educational psychologists to monitor student progress and adapt strategies as needed.
  • Provide personal care and support to students, ensuring their comfort and well-being.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment that promotes the social and emotional development of all students.
  • Participate in team meetings and contribute to discussions on best practices for supporting students with special educational needs.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • A degree in Psychology or a related field desirable.
  • A genuine interest in working with children and young adults with special educational needs.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Patience, empathy, and a positive attitude.
  • Previous experience in a similar setting is desirable but not essential.
