About the Role

Teaching Personnel is seeking an enthusiastic and knowledgeable Geography Teacher to join a well-respected secondary school in Hyde, Manchester. This full-time position is available from after Easter to cover a long-term absence. The school is known for its diverse and inclusive environment, strong academic standards, and commitment to fostering a passion for learning among students.

The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering engaging and informative Geography lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4. The role requires a teacher who can inspire students to develop their understanding of physical and human geography, environmental issues, and global challenges.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver high-quality Geography lessons that engage and challenge students.

• Teach a broad curriculum, covering topics such as physical landscapes, climate change, urbanisation, ecosystems, and global development.

• Use a variety of teaching strategies, including interactive activities, case studies, and fieldwork opportunities where possible.

• Monitor student progress through assessments and provide constructive feedback.

• Adapt teaching approaches to support students of varying abilities and learning styles.

• Encourage students to think critically about geographical issues and develop a global perspective.

• Promote the use of geographical skills, including map reading, data analysis, and GIS technology.

• Maintain high standards of classroom management and student engagement.

• Contribute to the wider school community, including involvement in extracurricular activities or school trips.

Requirements

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent teaching qualification.

• Experience teaching Geography at Key Stages 3 and 4.

• Strong subject knowledge and a passion for Geography.

• Ability to create engaging and dynamic lessons that inspire students.

• Excellent classroom management skills and a commitment to student progress.

• Strong communication and organisational skills.

• A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people.
