Job description

Are you a passionate English teacher looking for a flexible role in education? A secondary school in Portsmouth is seeking a qualified English Supply Teacher to join their team as soon as possible, with the role initially running until Easter and the potential for extension.

When not delivering English lessons, the successful candidate will support the school by covering general lessons across different subjects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Delivering high-quality English lessons to KS3 and KS4 students, following the national curriculum.
  • Adapting and personalising lesson plans to engage and support students with varying abilities.
  • Managing the classroom effectively to create a positive and productive learning environment.
  • Carrying out general cover duties as needed, ensuring pre-set work is delivered across different subjects.
  • Monitoring and assessing student progress, providing constructive feedback to enhance learning outcomes.
  • Maintaining strong communication and collaboration with teaching staff, students, and parents where required.
  • Upholding school policies, including safeguarding and behaviour management protocols.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a proven track record of successful teaching.
  • Minimum of 6 months of teaching experience in the UK.
  • A strong understanding of the English curriculum, with the ability to inspire and motivate students.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to take on general cover responsibilities when needed.
  • Excellent communication, classroom management, and organizational skills.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
