We are seeking a dedicated Challenging Behaviour Teaching Assistant to join our team at [School Name], an SEMH specialist school in Chorley. About the Role:
As a Challenging Behaviour Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with students to provide the structure and support they need to succeed. Your main duties will include:
- Working 1:1 or in small groups to support students with challenging behaviors and SEMH needs
- Implementing individual behavior management plans in line with school policies
- Building positive, supportive relationships with students to foster trust and cooperation
- Supporting classroom teachers in delivering tailored learning experiences
- Promoting a safe and inclusive environment for all students
About You:
This role requires someone who is patient, empathetic, and has experience working with young people exhibiting challenging behaviors. You will be:
- Resilient, adaptable, and able to stay calm under pressure
- Skilled in de-escalation techniques and managing high-stress situations
- A team player with strong communication skills, able to work closely with teachers, parents, and support staff
- Passionate about supporting the social and emotional growth of young people
Essential Requirements:
- Previous experience working with challenging behaviors, ideally in an SEMH or SEN environment
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people
- Enhanced DBS clearance (we will assist in applying)
Desirable Qualifications and Experience:
- Qualifications in areas such as Teaching Assistance, SEMH, or Behavior Support
- Training in behavior management or de-escalation techniques (e.g., Team-Teach, MAPA)

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
