Job Advert: Behaviour Support Worker
Location: Southampton
Start Date: ASAP
Full-Time/Part-Time: Full-time (Monday-Friday) preferred, but part-time (minimum 3 days) considered for experienced candidates
We are looking for a passionate and dedicated Behaviour Support Worker to join our team at a special school catering to primary and secondary-aged pupils with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) challenges. This is a fantastic opportunity for an individual who wants to make a real difference in the lives of young people and help them reach their full potential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide one-to-one and small group support for pupils with SEMH needs
- Build strong relationships with pupils, fostering trust and encouraging positive behaviours
- Support the development of individual behaviour plans, ensuring that students feel safe and understood
- Collaborate with teaching staff, families, and external agencies to create an inclusive, nurturing environment
- Contribute to the development of a stimulating and supportive classroom environment
The Ideal Candidate:
- Prior experience in education, social care, or a similar support role
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to build rapport and trust with students, staff, and families
- Knowledge and experience of working with young people with SEMH or additional needs
- A calm, patient, and empathetic approach to behaviour management
- Ability to remain flexible and adaptable in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
- A commitment to providing high-quality support and contributing positively to the school community

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
